We welcome the guests of club members and members of yacht clubs with reciprocal privileges whenever space is available in our marina or among our harbor’s moorings.
This guide provides a summary description of our Club, the facilities and services available to guests, as well as rules and guidelines we ask our guests to observe during their visit.
Founded in 1888, Riverside Yacht Club is the second oldest in Connecticut. Possessing a rich sailing heritage, our Club today offers year-round activities, including cruising, racing, one-design and frostbite sailing. Among recent notable regattas hosted by the Club were the World Etchells in 2003, and the U.S. Disabled Sailing Championship in 2009. Additionally, the Club offers swimming, tennis and dining facilities.
Located inside protected Cos Cob Harbor, our marina is one of the finest among private yacht clubs on Long Island Sound. With over a mile of linear slip space, our concrete docks provide 162 berths. Adjacent to the marina is a federal anchorage with 65 member-owned moorings.
Boat Draft
The maximum allowable draft is 8 feet.
Boat Reservations
Prior to arrival, visiting yachtsmen may inquire about available berth or mooring space by contacting our Waterfront Manager Captain Jeff Freidag, at 203-637-8987 or [email protected]. Upon entering the harbor, contact the Waterways staff on VHF channel 74. After securing your mooring or berth, please check-in at the Dock House.
Charges All charges, at the waterfront and at the Clubhouse, will be at the guest rate and can be billed to the host member’s account or to the guest’s home club. Contact the waterfront manager for current berth and mooring rates.
Colors
Colors are observed at sunset by standing in silence on the Clubhouse deck as the ensign and flags are lowered. Persons inside the Clubhouse should observe silence.
Communication
Our Waterfront staff monitors VHF channel 74. Please say “RYC Dock.”
Communication Devices
Cell phones, PDAs and other communication devices may not be used in the Clubhouse, on the adjacent lawn or in the pool area.

Dress Code
Bathing suits or bare feet are not allowed in the clubhouse or on the deck. Collared shirts are required in the evening; t-shirts may be worn only after sailing on racing evenings. Men are not permitted to wear hats in the clubhouse. Riverside is a smoke-free facility.
Emergency
Please call the Waterfront staff and 911.
Fuel/Pump-Out Dock
Diesel, gas, oil, water and waste pump-out are available year-round. Boats requiring dock space must secure clearance from the Waterways staff prior to arrival at the dock. Owners are required to pump their own fuel, water and waste (although the Waterways staff will pass hoses aboard). Boats have a time limit at the Fuel dock and must be attended at all times. Ice is available in the Dock House.
Launch Service
Launch service is available from May through October. Please hail VHF channel 74 or sound three horn blasts. State of CT rules require that children under age 12 must wear PFDs. Smoking or consuming beverages onboard the launches is prohibited.
Lavatories/Showers
Lavatories and showers are available in the dressing rooms adjacent to the pool.
Refuse/Recycling
Receptacles for refuse and for recyclables are on the decks.
We look forward to your visit.
