This program is designed for sailors aged 12+ with substantial prior Opti or 420 sailing who wish to race lasers. Lasers are one of the largest one-design classes in the world and are sailed at the Olympics. They are ideal boats for sailors who have completed their Opti career and who wish to continue sailing in a single-handed class. Because of the power of the Laser, they are best suited to sailors weighing over 125 pounds. Participants in this program must provide their own Laser.
Prerequisite: Afternoon Opti, Recreational Sailing (8wk), or Sailing Director approval. Minimum of 4 participants required to run this program.
Schedule: Mon-Fri 1:00pm (Rigged & Ready) - 5:00pm
Ages: 14-18
Minimum Weight: 110 pounds (Radial), 130 pounds (Standard)
JSA Age and Weight Requirements: A sailor's age on December 31 of each year shall be considered his/her age for any event during that year. Weight and age requirements may be requested to be waived for a specific regatta by written consent of the sailor's parent, together with recommendation of Sailing Director and the Head Instructor. Such requests are subject to acceptance solely by the regatta host club.
